ALABAMA
We have a former foster youth in Cullman County who is interested in becoming a foster parent. Are there any veteran foster parents who would like to make themselves available as a mentor or would like to comment with helpful advice?

ARIZONA
via Laura with Arizonans for Children: The church Arizonans for Children has been storing the gifts for the 2018 Holiday Party for kids in foster care has given us until 4/11 to move everything out. We need storage ASAP. Without storage over 1000 kids in foster care will not get Christmas of any kind. These are kids that have already lost everything, family, home, friends and any sense of stability. The Arizonans for Children Annual Holiday Party is often the only bright spot for these kids during the holiday season. CALIFORNIA

Foster VC Kids
established a program called Businesses with Heart which provides discounts for foster youth and caregivers.   For example, Chipotle has hosted 3 job fairs.

The Ramos Family Endowed Scholarship Fund is available for those who are pursuing college or vocational training in San Bernardino County

GEORGIA

Team FLiP aims to improve the financial well being among foster youth. Since many foster youth are sheltered from financial decisions, rates of homelessness among youth aging out of the system can reach upwards of 65%. FLiP plans to create a corporate-sponsored case-competition, which would include the experience of research and growth of critical thought.

OREGON

Project Foster Kids USA is officially collecting once again for their Easter Basket Drive. Last year they had 298 Easter baskets donated to foster kids. Now, they have set their highest goal yet: 500 Baskets. This number will be split between not one, but THREE counties in Oregon. Each county will be collecting donations.  Click here to learn more.

SB 6274 – 2017 – 18 is a bill that is designed to make sure that apprenticeships are included in the Passport to College Promise Program
